Write it like a director.
In one paragraph

How to write a prompt.

A good AI prompt reads like a director’s note, not a list of buzzwords. Name the subject, say what happens, set the scene, pick one camera or framing choice, describe the light and the style, then add any hard rules. Use visible details instead of words like “stunning” or “cinematic,” keep one idea per shot, and change one thing at a time when you iterate. This guide covers the formula, the vocabulary, model-specific tips and copy-ready templates for video, images and music.

The formula

Eight parts. Any model.

Not every prompt needs all eight. Start with subject and action, add what matters for this shot, and stop.

  1. 01SubjectWho or what the shot is about. Be specific: material, color, age, model.“a matte black espresso machine”
  2. 02ActionWhat happens, in the order you’d see it. Verbs beat adjectives.“steam rises as a cup fills”
  3. 03SceneWhere it happens, with 2–4 concrete details. More than that confuses models.“on a marble counter by a rainy window”
  4. 04CameraOne framing and, for video, one camera move per shot.“close-up, slow push-in”
  5. 05LightName the source and direction, not just a mood.“soft window light from the left”
  6. 06StyleA medium, era or finish you can see: film stock, render, illustration.“commercial look, shallow depth of field”
  7. 07SoundFor video and music: what we hear and when.“quiet café ambience, a soft click at the end”
  8. 08RulesHard constraints, written as what you want instead of a list of “no”s.“clean frame, no on-screen text”

Golden rules

Ten rules that fix most prompts.

  1. 01Direct, don’t decorateWrite what the camera sees. “Stunning, epic, 8K masterpiece” adds nothing a model can draw.
  2. 02One shot, one ideaOne framing and one camera move per shot. Several competing moves give you mush.
  3. 03Order like a sentenceSubject and action first, then scene, camera, light and style. Models weight the start of a prompt more.
  4. 04Say what you want, not what you don’t“An empty beach at dawn” beats “a beach, no people, no boats.”
  5. 05Quote exact wordsText on signs, labels and dialogue goes in quotation marks, exactly as it should appear.
  6. 06Give motion an endFor video, end the action: “then settles,” “then holds still.” Open-ended motion drifts.
  7. 07Change one thing at a timeWhen a result is close, change a single detail and run it again. You’ll learn what each word does.
  8. 08Reference beats descriptionIf the look must be exact, upload a reference image and say what it controls.
  9. 09Fit the lengthDon’t cram five events into a 5-second clip. Cut events, or use the 2× duration engine (beta).
  10. 10Draft cheap, finish sharpIterate at lower settings, then run the final prompt at full quality. 8K auto upscale handles the rest.

Writing prompts06
01

What is the best way to write an AI prompt?

Describe a scene the way a director would: subject, action, setting, camera or framing, light, style and any hard rules, in that order. Use concrete visual details instead of vague praise, and keep one idea per shot.

02

How long should an AI prompt be?

Usually 30 to 80 words for video and images. Under about 30 words is often too vague; past about 100, models start to drop details. Music works best as a short style prompt plus separate lyrics.

03

Do I need different prompts for different models?

The core formula works everywhere, but each model has habits. Veo 3.1 reads dialogue in quotes, Seedance 2.5 uses reference tags, Kling likes short prompts with a clear end state. See the video and image guides for each one.

04

Should I use negative prompts?

Describe what you want instead. “A desolate landscape with no buildings” works better than a list of things to remove, and many newer models don’t have a separate negative-prompt field.

05

Why does my result ignore part of my prompt?

Usually too many ideas at once, conflicting instructions, or important details buried at the end. Move the subject and action to the front, cut extra events, and change one thing per run.

06

Can I copy these prompts?

Yes. Every template on these pages has a copy button. Paste it into Creatide.ai, swap in your own subject, and run it on any model.

What can I create on Creatide.ai?

Video, images, music, lip sync, sound effects, story, motion, video extend, upscaling, subtitles, background removal and 3D, with every top model on one balance.

08

Which models does Creatide.ai have?

Seedance 2.5, Veo 3.1, Kling 4.0, Wan 2.7, MiniMax, Grok Imagine and Pika for video, and GPT Image 2.5, Flux 3, Nano Banana 2, Midjourney and more for images.

09

What happens if a generation fails?

If it fails because of an error on our side, the credits return to your balance automatically and you get a notification.

10

How long can my videos be?

Each model has a native length. The 2× duration engine (beta) doubles it, up to 60 seconds in 8K with Seedance 2.5, and Video Extend can keep a shot going.

Model names are trademarks of their owners. Tips are based on each model’s public documentation and guides, checked on October 21, 2026. Models update often, so results can vary.
